    CURRENT mode
  • In CURRENT mode, you can see flight and noise information from EuroAirport with a time delay of 30 minutes. The TraVis application is automatically opened in CURRENT mode when launched.
    ARCHIVE mode
In ARCHIVE mode, archived flight and radar information from EuroAirport is displayed. You can access the ARCHIVE mode by clicking the calendar symbol, in the upper function panel. You can select any date and time within the last month to view information you are interested in. The automatically displayed control box, at the top left of the frame, allows you to adapt the replay speed. You can move backwards and forwards in time using the buttons below this control box.
Switching between CURRENT und ARCHIVE mode
You can switch between the two display modes using the Calendar or Start button in the left part of the upper function panel. The ARCHIVE mode is started by choosing a start time and confirming it with the OK button in the calendar dialog. You can return to CURRENT mode by clicking on the Start button.
Measuring Points / Measuring Stations / Measurements
The measuring stations are displayed as measuring points. If a measured sound level is below the threshold defined individually for every station, the measuring point will be displayed in green . If the noise level is above, it will be displayed in yellow . If the noise event is recognised as an aircraft noise event, the measuring point will turn orange red .
If a measuring station is temporarily out of service or no measurements delivered for technical reasons, the station will be displayed turquoise without any values . Furthermore, the measuring point will turn red if a noise level of 90 dB(A) is exceeded. This occurs for example when the calibration is checked. If a measuring station is coloured grey , a downtime is indicated. This can be caused by weather conditions (e.g. thunderstorms, strong gusts of wind, etc.). The downtime of the measuring station will not be taken into account for the continuous noise level calculation or any other reports. By clicking on the measuring station, detailed information will be displayed at the right side of your browser window, such as name of the measuring station, height above sea level, actual noise level, etc.
    Aircraft Tracks
Landing and departing aircraft can be recognised by their colour and by their flight tracks in the system. The blue coloured flight tracks indicate the paths of landing aircraft and the red tracks those of departing aircraft. The length of the flight path shown, can be adjusted in the "View options" dialog.
    Time
In the "CURRENT mode" in TraVis the traffic is displayed with a 30 minute time delay for technical reasons. The system time is local time (CET resp. CEST) at EuroAirport.
    Marked Object
Clicking on a particular aircraft will display any relevant detailed information. The appropriate information will be shown on the right side of the screen.
    Mark your own position
You can mark your own position using the home symbol - just drag the little house icon with the mouse from the header area to the map and move it to your own position. You can subsequently open the distance graphics for selected flights in the data panel on the right side of your browser window. Additionally you can open a context menu by clicking the right mouse button above the home symbol - in this menu you can open a window with information about the marked position or remove the home marker.
    Calculated noise levels
By setting your own position (house symbol), information on distance and altitude as well as a calculated level for most aircraft types can be displayed at any location for a selected flight movement. The calculation of the level at the immission point is based on the calculation algorithm "Anleitung zur Berechnung von Fluggeräuschen" using the flight path and aircraft type. The calculated level is displayed from a value of 50 dB(A), depending on the distance and on the basis of type-specific average values, and may therefore deviate from the actual measured values. Other influencing factors which can lead to deviations from current measured values are meteorological influences, mainly wind direction, wind speed and temperature, the current settings of the aircraft such as flaps, engine speed, loading factor and special acoustic influences from extraneous noise, directional characteristic, attenuation and reflection.
In general, the accuracy is within a level range of +/- 3 dB(A) in the immediate vicinity of the flown route. As the lateral distance to the flight route increases, the basis of calculation (*) may cause an increasing deviation.
If the abbreviation DIST is displayed instead of the level value, the selected location is outside an area for which a level is calculated. If the abbreviation TYPE is displayed instead of the level value, this aircraft type is not yet stored in the database.
The level indicator is not and cannot claim to calculate the exact measured value for each flight movement, but for those locations where the airport does not operate a fixed measuring point, it should provide information on the level within the specified accuracy.

    Measuring station statistics
You can gain information about acoustic measuring values and configuration data with relevant traffic data for every measuring station. The statistics module presents information about numbers and levels of noise events caused by aircraft flights in diagrams and tables. The values can be related to the number of flights, runway usage, type mix and route usage. You can start the statistics module with the button under the data of the selected measuring station.
    View options
Under "View options" (open by clicking the gear-symbol in the header area) you can customise your view of aircraft movements and flight data. Information referring to every aircraft movement can be switched on and off by using the button "Show data flags for all flights". Detailed information can be displayed by using the button "Show big data flags".
    Tips & Tricks
You can also use your keyboard to change the map view. After clicking on the map, you can zoom out with the ‘-‘ key and zoom into the map using the ‘+’ key. You can use the arrow keys and PageUp/PageDown keys to change the section of the map displayed.
Almost all modern internet browsers include a full page mode, which shows the content of the browser window without the menu bar and other toolbars being maximised to full screen. Press the F11 key to start and end this mode or use the full screen button in the header area.
You can measure distances on the map by right-clicking two (or more) positions on the map. The result of the measurement will be shown in a small information area in the bottom left corner of your browser window. Left-click on the map to stop the measurement.
